Why Chamomile is Special

Chamomile is a small white and yellow flower that grows wild in the cold desert of Ladakh. It opens through the short mountain summer, from May to September, at about 11,500 ft. The thin air, the cold nights, and the strong sun give the flower a deep colour and a soft apple-like smell.

Most chamomile sold in India is imported and comes as dust inside a tea bag. Ours is the whole flower head, picked by hand, one at a time. Nothing is ground, nothing is blended. When you open the jar, you can still see each flower.

Benefits

  • Naturally Caffeine-Free: A warm evening drink with no caffeine, so it fits easily into the end of the day.
  • Traditionally Taken to Relax: Chamomile has long been taken in Himalayan homes as a calming evening drink.
  • Supports Digestion: Natural compounds in chamomile flowers have traditionally been taken after meals.
  • Rich in Antioxidants: Chamomile flowers naturally contain flavonoids and other plant antioxidants.
  • Whole Flower, Not Dust: Only full flower heads go in the jar, which keeps the colour and the aroma intact.

How to Consume
Add one heaped teaspoon of flowers to a cup. Pour hot water, not boiling, and cover the cup. Wait 4 to 5 minutes, then strain and drink. Add honey if you like a little sweetness. One jar of 15 g gives about 20 cups.

Why Siachen Naturals
Our chamomile grows wild in the Siachen Valley of Ladakh, one of the highest and cleanest growing regions in the Himalayas. The flowers are picked by hand by farming families in Khemi village, then dried in the shade so they never lose their colour to the sun. Through Siachen Naturals, every jar helps support farmers in the Siachen belt while keeping alive a way of harvesting that has been part of Ladakh's culture for generations.

Wild from Ladakh. Made with care.
